Postpartum Doulas Do...
- Nurture you while you nurture your baby - Light house work, so you don't have to think about it! This includes meal preparation, dishes, and laundry - May do a grocery run upon request and reimbursement - Provide non-clinical baby care (diapering, holding, feeding if doing bottle feeding or bringing to the mother for nursing) - Look out for signs and symptoms of postpartum depression - Honor your ways of parenting - Provide basic education on baby care - Helps with basic breastfeeding support and can recommend you to a lactation consultant when needed - May offer you evidence-based information sources - Listen to your unique process and journey of motherhood - Help connect you with local resources - Provide you with a more restful night if you want help with baby care during the night. After the baby is fed, the doula can burp, change, and help the baby fall back to sleep - Respect your right to parent the way you want to parent your baby! |
