My Philosophy
I believe in parent-baby centered care. I believe in the innate wisdom of a person, the physiologic process of birth, and the fusing of traditional ways of birth keeping practices with modern/medical approaches when necessary. It is every person's right to have access to the most recent and evidence-based practices and it is my hope to help deliver that information to you and to inspire motivation for you to look further and make empowered decisions in regards to your and your baby's care. Becoming pregnant and giving birth brings many more gifts than just receiving life, it brings forth the birth of a mother, the birth of a family, and a new hope for the future; and our experience stays with us forever.
Background & Education
I became interested in birth work, and midwifery specifically, in 2008 after having a dream she was the midwife for a friend. This dream became a catalyst for her studying natural homebirth. She began attending births in 2011 as a doula, started studying midwifery in 2013 at the National College of Midwifery, and has work/studied as an apprentice/assistant at Sierra Homebirth (Nevada City, CA); Trillium Waterbirth Center (Medford/Grant’s Pass, OR); Next Generation Midwifery (Sacramento, CA), and Mariposa Birth Center (Nevada City, CA). She aims for clinical completion and licensure by early 2023, earning both an Associate’s Degree in Midwifery and the license to practice midwifery in California.
